Author Jackie Chapman was introduced to liturgical worship while living in the Arab World. She was inspired knowing that believers around the world were worshipping in like manner—and not only those who were worshipping together in that present time, but over the centuries.
Starting with Advent, she followed the church’s liturgical calendar for 365 days, walking through each season of the church, learning the meanings, histories, and traditions, celebrating and marking the feasts and holy days, and reading the same Scriptures and praying the same prayers that the church was praying around the world (and had been praying over time). She also wrote prayers for unreached peoples every day, prayers born from her interaction with the Scripture and worship of these long-celebrated liturgies, feasts, and seasons.
Volume 1 contains the seasons of the church: Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost. Each entry includes the daily collect, a song playlist, the day’s Scripture readings, a short reflection, and a prayer for unreached people.
